Getting Ready for Fall Event Season

If you have been wondering what is on my hook lately, the answer is pretty simple:

A little bit of EVERYTHING.

Fall event season is almost here, which means my hooks are busy, the yarn is everywhere, and I am working on building up a fun mix of handmade goodies to take with me over the next few months.

Some of these events will be traditional vendor events where you can shop Naturally, MelissaMade in person. Others are a little different. I will be setting up simply to share crochet, demonstrate what I do, play some games, hand out prizes, and hopefully introduce a few more people to just how fun crochet can be.

So, what exactly am I making?

One of the challenges of getting ready for events is deciding what deserves a spot on my hook.

I want my table to have a little something for everyone.

That means I am working on a mixture of my smaller, affordable makes along with plushies, fidgets, sensory friendly creations, seasonal goodies, and those fun little pieces that you did not know you needed until you spotted them sitting on the table.

And, of course, I am keeping my eye on the season.

As we move into fall, you can expect to see more autumn colors, cute seasonal makes, giftable items, and eventually plenty of Christmas goodies joining the lineup.

I am also working around my custom orders, Comfort Companions, classes, tutorials, and everything else happening behind the scenes at Naturally, MelissaMade.

Basically, there is rarely an empty hook around here!

September 12 | 9 AM to 3 PM
Sylvania Tractor Supply Annual Farmers Market

This one is coming up FAST, so a lot of what is currently on my hook is being made with September 12 in mind.

I am working to build up a good variety of ready to take home pieces so you can stop by, browse, squish the plushies, check out the fidgets, and see my crochet in person.

Online photos are wonderful, but there is something completely different about getting to actually pick up a handmade piece and feel all those textures for yourself.

October 2 | 5 PM to 8 PM
Downtown Sylvania Food Festival

This event is going to look a little different for Naturally, MelissaMade because I will not be selling.

Instead, I will be decorating my space with some of my handmade products and doing a live crochet demonstration.

I love this idea because it gives me the opportunity to show people what goes into creating the things they normally only see after they are finished.

You will get to see the yarn, hook, stitches, and process behind the finished product.

Come by, say hello, watch me crochet for a bit, and ask questions!

October 23 | 5 PM to 7 PM
Downtown Sylvania Fall Festival

This is another no sales event, but I am definitely still bringing some crochet fun with me.

We are going to have PLINKO!

Stop by, play a round, and have a chance to win some crochet prizes.

This means part of my event prep is not just about making inventory to sell. I also get to make fun little pieces specifically to give away.

And I have a feeling deciding what those prizes should be is going to be half the fun.

October 24 | 5 PM to 8 PM
Hiltonia Fall Festival

The very next day, I will be packing everything back up and heading to Hiltonia for another fall festival.

This one means even more inventory prep because after a full September event and two Downtown Sylvania appearances, I want to make sure there are still plenty of handmade goodies ready for Hiltonia.

There may be some late night crocheting happening in October!

Newington with The Paul Leader Project

There may be one more stop on the fall event calendar before we head into the Christmas season!

I may be joining The Paul Leader Project in Newington on October 31 for some Halloween fun.

This date is still possible rather than confirmed, so keep an eye on Naturally, MelissaMade for updates as we get closer.

If it happens, you better believe I will be finding an excuse to bring along some spooky cute crochet creations and plenty of handmade fun!

December 12 | 3 PM to 7 PM
Downtown Sylvania Once Upon A Christmas Extravaganza

After all the pumpkins, fall colors, and Halloween fun, we will officially be heading into Christmas.

I am especially excited to start planning what I want my Christmas event setup to look like this year.

By December, my hooks will have shifted toward giftable makes, stocking stuffers, winter favorites, sensory goodies, plushies, and plenty of handmade Christmas cheer.

If you love giving handmade gifts but do not crochet yourself, this will definitely be an event to put on your calendar.

• October 24, 5 PM to 8 PM: Hiltonia Fall Festival

• October 31: Possible Hiltonia Fall Festival date, details to be confirmed

• December 12, 3 PM to 7 PM: Downtown Sylvania Once Upon A Christmas Extravaganza

And this may not be the end of the event list!

I am always looking for new opportunities to get out into the community, share my crochet, meet new people, and bring Naturally, MelissaMade along for the fun. Keep an eye out because additional event dates may be added as we move through the fall and holiday season.

The Fidget Witch is officially ready for the event table!

They are soft, simple, silly, and each one seems to develop a little personality of its own as it comes off the hook.

I have a feeling I will be making a whole little ghostly crew before event day!

Six Boo Buddies down...how many more should I make?

are ready to find their new homes at upcoming fall events. Each one has its own handmade charm, from their tiny details to their silly little personalities that seem to appear as they come together stitch by stitch.

I love creating seasonal pieces that are not only fun decorations but also make people smile. Whether they become a Halloween buddy, a desk companion, or a little gift for someone who loves all things spooky, these Zom-Bees are ready to bring a little handmade Halloween magic.

The witch is finished, the ghost buddies are joining the crew, and now the Zom-Bee swarm has arrived…

With his soft texture, squishy body, and eight little legs ready to explore, he is the perfect little companion for anyone who loves a touch of spooky season without the scare.

Sometimes the smaller makes are some of my favorites because they bring so much personality in a tiny package. This little spider is a great example of how a simple pattern, a little yarn, and some creativity can turn into something completely unique.

One navy blue spider has officially crawled off my hook and is ready for fall adventures! 🕷️🧶💜

I love when a pattern sparks an idea and sends my creativity in a slightly different direction. Sometimes making one thing is all it takes to start thinking, “Okay...but what if I tried this?”

And that is exactly how these little guys found their way onto my hook.
