Naturally, MelissaMade is heading downtown!
Join me at the Downtown Sylvania Food Festival on October 2nd from 5 PM to 8 PM for an evening of good food, community, creativity, and a little crochet magic. 🧶💜
This stop on my fall event calendar is going to look a little different.
I will not be setting up a sales booth or bringing racks of handmade goodies for you to shop.
Instead, I am bringing my hooks!
So much of what you see from Naturally, MelissaMade online is the finished product.
The plushie is stuffed. The blanket is bordered. The ends are woven in. The pictures are taken.
But every one of those creations starts with something incredibly simple: yarn and a hook.
At the Downtown Sylvania Food Festival, you will have a chance to see a little of what happens in between.
I will be crocheting throughout the evening, demonstrating the craft and sharing a peek at the process behind the things you normally see coming off my hook.
And you do not have to just watch!
Grab a hook, pull up a seat, and give crochet a try for yourself. 🧶
Whether you have never held a crochet hook before, tried once years ago, or already know your way around some yarn, you are welcome to sit down and make a few stitches with me. No experience needed and no pressure to get it perfect. This is simply a chance to play with some yarn, learn something new, and see what crochet is all about.
What will I be working on while you are there?
You might just have to stop by and find out!
One of the things I love most about crochet is how easily it brings people together.
Someone almost always has a crochet story.
Maybe your grandmother crocheted.
Maybe you learned years ago but have not picked up a hook in forever.
Maybe you have always wanted to learn.
Maybe you are an experienced crocheter who immediately wants to know what yarn I am using and what is currently on my hook. 😂
Whatever brings you over, I hope you will stop and chat for a while.
Ask questions. Watch a few stitches. Tell me what you are working on. Share your crochet memories. Or simply enjoy seeing how a ball of yarn slowly becomes something new.
Naturally, MelissaMade has grown into so much more than a place where I sell the things I crochet.
Teaching and sharing the craft have become an important part of this journey too.
I want crochet to feel approachable.
I want beginners to feel comfortable asking questions.
I want makers to have places where they can learn, experiment, share what they are creating, and occasionally laugh about the projects that absolutely did not go according to plan.
Sometimes sharing crochet means creating something for someone.
Sometimes it means teaching a stitch.
And sometimes it simply means sitting in our community with a hook in my hand and showing someone how this craft I love works.
That is what this evening is all about.
There will be plenty happening downtown, so come out, grab something delicious, enjoy the festival, and make Naturally, MelissaMade one of your stops along the way.
There is no shopping at my setup.
Just come say hello!
And if you have ever wondered how crochet actually works, this is your chance to get an up close look.
