Six Babies, Six Dinosaurs: Creating a Custom Dino Lovey Collection

There is something extra special when a customer comes back and trusts me with another meaningful order. But this return customer didn’t come to me looking for just one baby gift.

She had six babies coming into her life, and she wanted dinosaur themed gifts for every single one of them!

And not six identical dinosaurs, either.

The goal was to create something that felt like it belonged to each baby while still keeping that fun dinosaur theme tying the whole collection together.

One of my favorite parts of a custom order happens before I ever pick up my hook.

We started by looking through different dinosaur lovey ideas and talking about what she liked. There are SO many ways to turn a dinosaur into a cuddly baby lovey, and with six little ones to create for, we had plenty of room to have some fun.

After going through the options, we finally narrowed it down to three absolutely adorable dinosaur lovey patterns.

That meant we had our dinosaurs.

But we definitely weren't finished yet.

Choosing the pattern is only part of bringing a custom order to life. Next came one of the most fun parts:

What colors should each dinosaur be?

We started looking at different possibilities, but sometimes the inspiration photo gets it exactly right the first time!

As we talked through colors for each lovey, it turned out that her favorite version of each dinosaur was actually the colors it was already shown in within the pattern photos.

And why mess with something you already love?

So instead of reinventing each little dinosaur, those original color combinations became our inspiration. With three different lovey patterns and five babies to create for, we could still make an adorable little collection while giving her the exact look that had made her fall in love with each design in the first place.

With the dinosaurs chosen and our colors decided, it was finally time for me to start turning all those pictures and plans into five cuddly little baby gifts.

I love orders like this because they show exactly what makes the custom process so much fun.

You can start with something as simple as:

"I need dinosaur themed baby gifts."

From there, we can figure out the rest together.

We can look at different ideas. We can choose patterns. We can play with colors. We can make changes and narrow things down until we land on something that feels just right.

And sometimes, like with this order, one idea turns into an entire little dinosaur herd!
